Homemade All Purpose Cleanser

April 13, 2012

I’m trying to save money and my household from toxic chemicals.  It’s a bonus when I am able to do both with one small change in the way I do things.  I no longer buy Windex or 409 or Lysol Kitchen Cleanser or any of a number of toxins in a squirt bottle that I used to buy.  These things are expensive, bad for the planet and bad for our bodies.  I mix up my own cleanser and it does a great job on everything.  It’s easy on granite, leather, stove tops, my stainless steel and chrome fixtures and it shines mirrors to streak free perfection.  The only thing I wouldn’t use it on is wood because of the alcohol in the mixture. It’s cheap (really only costs pennies a batch) and it’s easy to mix.

Give it a try and start saving dollars and dear ones today.  :)

Homemade All Purpose Cleanser

Homemade All Purpose Cleanser

I mix up 4 cups of this and fill 2 squirt bottles.

The Ingredients

  • 1/8 part rubbing alcohol
  • 7/8 water
  • 2 drops dawn dishwashing detergent (it's a good grease cutter)
  • 2-3 drops Lavender (or whatever scent you like) essential oil.

The Instructions

Mix gently so as not to foam the soap, put into a squirt bottle and ta-da... you've made your own cleanser. It works better than anything out there and is like a penny a bottle.
