Those of you who know us have heard us say before that the hospitality house ministry is a great gig. We love it! We have the amazing privilege of opening our home to America’s finest. We worship with them, we study the Bible with them, we break bread together, we play together, we pray together, we laugh, and yes… we cry.
This type of ministry is not without its challenges of course… chief among those challenges is having to say “goodbye” to the people that we have come to hold so dear. That part of the ministry, the goodbye part… STINKS!
Well, here we go again. ::runs off to punch the wall:: This Friday we will be saying goodbye to our dear friends Nate and Kailie.
Man! Did I mention that this part of the ministry stinks?
Mike and I had the unbelievable privilege of taking these two wonderful people through their pre-marital counseling. It was a great time and we felt so confident (and continue to feel confident) that this marriage will last the test of time. Christ is the heart of their home and each looks to Him for guidance through the oft times turbulent waters of matrimonial bliss. :)
Nate and Kailie met here at HCC (though Nate thinks not because they actually met at the beach… but I have to remind him that it was an HCC sponsored beach event because the house was meeting there while we were under renovation). Anyhow, they fell in love and got married. We have seen God working in their lives in wondrous ways already and have been able to give Him praise for answered prayer.
Now, we are faced with saying goodbye. Sigh. It STINKS!
Their last Friday at HCC is this week and we let Nate pick the dinner theme. It’s bacon. Yes… that’s the theme… not just a dish request. Bacon. All bacon. Bacon in every dish including dessert. Bacon in all its bacony glory. So, run a few extra miles this week and show up to say goodbye to Nate and Kailie, which will stink but at least we’ll have bacon. We’ll always have bacon. Hahaha.
Nate is also teaching on Friday. Our text will be Genesis 30:25- to the end of the chapter.
In order to try and mask my sadness at having to say goodbye again… I leave you with some bacon humor. :) See you all on Friday.
